What is the primary purpose of reciting "Namo Amitabha Buddha"? - Master Jingkong

All phenomena,
Are but illusions.
This reminds us
That since they are illusions,
Why bother holding onto them?

Holding onto them,
Stains the mind.
The mind becomes disturbed,
And purity and equanimity are lost.

When purity and equanimity are lost,
This mind gives rise to afflictions,
Without giving rise to wisdom.

So, what method does the Pure Land school use?
With a single Buddha's name,
When faced with external disturbances,
"Namo Amitabha Buddha,"
This single Buddha's name takes its place.

Within my mind, there is only this single Buddha's name.
Apart from this single Buddha's name, nothing is accepted.
Nothing is taken to heart.
This is it.
Wonderful indeed.
