Why Do We Offer a Glass of Water Before the Buddha? - Ven. Master Jingkong

https://youtu.be/bblox9YCiZI

The nature of things
Is originally unwavering,
Our inherent nature is true,
True nature has never wavered.
To be unwavering is to be equal,
Just like a glass of water.
So when we make offerings to the Buddha,
There are no specific items required.
But we must offer a glass of water.
What does the water symbolize?
It represents purity and equanimity.
It's not what the Buddha demands,
It's what we aspire to.
Every time we see that glass of water before the Buddha,
It reminds us constantly:
Our hearts should be pure,
And our minds should be in equanimity.
